Student
Services/Placement
The
U.S. Department of Labor shows that there are approximately 3 million
technicians currently employed to repair vehicles. Industry statistics
indicate that there are 70,000 to 100,000 openings each year in the service
fields of automotive and diesel technologies. Keeping safe and efficient
cars and trucks on the road is a demanding job. Technicians must be trained
and qualified as well as possess in-depth knowledge of the latest automotive
and diesel technology. The rapid growth of the electronics and computer
industries has changed the ways vehicles are built, serviced, and repaired.
Virtually every component is controlled by or linked to a computer chip,
which demands further education and training.
The
diesel engine is the workhorse of American industry. It's the power that
drives trucking, mining, lumber, construction, mass transit, agriculture,
sea-going vessels, pumps, generators, the petroleum industry and a long
list of commercial businesses. These industries need competent diesel
technicians. Arizona Automotive Institute's goal is to fill the needed
positions in the work force with capable, efficient, and confident professionals.
Arizona
Automotvie Institute maintains a full-time Student Services staff. This
office is responsible for advising and job assistance, housing, and part-time
and full-time employment opportunities while students are in school. This
office also assists in student budget management.
Housing
Assistance
A Housing Coordinator is available to help students with housing needs.
The coordinator works with an outside housing management company that
has numerous privately owned apartment units available. Reservations for
these units may be made through our representative at the time of enrollment.
Graduate
Placement Assistance
Arizona Automotive Institute places a great deal to emphasis on assisting
graduates in finding rewarding career positions. The Graduate Placement
Department seeks new opportunities for graduates, locally and nationally.
Employment assistance is available to graduates throughout their careers
providing that the skills necessary to obtain employment in the field
are maintained. While no guarantees can be made, considerable effort is
put forth to assist our graduates in finding meaningful employment.
To
be eligible for placement assistance, the student must complete all program
requirements. The Graduate Placement Assistance Office instructs each
prospective graduate on how to prepare a resume and on interviewing techniques.
Each graduate also participates in a one-on-one exit interview with a
Graduate Placement Advisor. The department may refuse assistance to any
graduate who fails to keep appointments or who behaves in an unprofessional
manner. Because a large number of students must work while attending school,
the department maintains a listing of job availability for students.
Student
Activities
Activities that encourage school spirit and develop student leadership
may be offered. The school believes that participation in these activities
is an important part of the educational process and student involvement
is encouraged.
Transportation
Assistance
The school maintains information on public transportation and a list
of student interested in car pooling.
Special
Lectures
Guest lecturers are invited to speak to students about career opportunities
and current industry applications of educational programs.
Library/Resource
Center
The library/resource center at Arizona Automotive Institute currently
has numerous service manuals and publications for student use. It provides
information on a wide variety of old and new vehicles.
